In Cash Money We Trust

THE HISTORY OF CASH MONEY

Cash Money was founded at the University of Connecticut in 1998 by Kwasi Gyambibi and Chris McLaughlin when they captured the first of what would turn out to be several championships while competing in a 2-on-2 tournament. Cash Money also went on to win another championship that year while competing in the 3-on-3 tournament and adding another body to the already stacked roster. In the coming years, Cash Money would prove to be the team to beat as they steam-rolled the competition year in and year out at UConn. Occasionally they would venture up to Boston and compete in the NIRSA Regional Tournament but were never able to break through the tough playoff schedule.

It was not until recent years that Cash Money showed the resilience that allowed them to dominate the NIRSA regionals in Boston for the past three years and capture another title at the ACIC Target Regional Tournament in Providence as well. These years are proving to be the best for the team as they continue their rise to the top of the East Coast intramural scene.

Keep an eye open for us, there's more to come...

WE BREED WALK ONS

At the University of Connecticut it's a well known fact that Head Coach Jim Calhoun scouts two teams for walk-ons over the past six years: Cash Money and A Few Good Men. While A Few Good Men are our rivals, I have to give credit where credit is due since they produced three walk-ons themselves. But as with intramural championships, A Few Good Men falls short to Cash Money again.

Over the past seven years Cash Money has hosted and produced six walk-ons and/or practice players, Kwasi Gyambibi, Chris McLaughlin, Darryl Woods, Jason Baisch, Mike Yusendik, and Rob Brockenberry. So if intramural championships, regional championships, and national tournament invitations aren't enough to show you we're for real... then kiss those Big East and National Championship rings!
